Expugement

Expugement

The Kentucky Legislature just passed a new, more liberal, expungement statute. (House Bill 327).  This law creates an automatic expungement mechanism when defendants are acquitted or have charges against them dismissed with prejudice.  The law also permits felony charges to be expunged after those charges are submitted to the Grand Jury and the Grand Jury has not returned an indictment within twelve months.
